Online Resilience at SMP Negeri 15 Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta, 2024 – The Directorate of Research and Community Service at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) organized a workshop on strengthening online resilience for students at SMP Negeri 15 Yogyakarta. The workshop was funded through the Matching Fund Program under the Community Problem-Solving Scheme and led by Prof. Dr. Siti Irene Astuti Dwiningrum, M.Si., together with team members Dr. Ariefa Efianingrum, M.Si., Dr. Pratiwi Wahyu Widiarti, M.Si., and Muslikhin, Ph.D. The workshop was supported by facilitators Nopita Sitompul, M.Pd., and Anindita A., along with university students who assisted participants in using playing cards and interactive animations as learning media. The workshop was held on Friday, November 15, 2024, in the assembly hall of SMP Negeri 15 Yogyakarta. The event was attended by students in grades seven through nine at SMP Negeri 15 Yogyakarta.

The workshop began with a presentation by Prof. Dr. Siti Irene Astuti Dwiningrum, M.Si., on the importance of strengthening online resilience. During her presentation, she emphasized that resilience is an essential quality for both teachers and students. For teachers, resilience serves as a fundamental resource in delivering learning materials at school, while for students, it helps develop the perseverance needed to pursue their education. During the session, she introduced an educational resource entitled Sinta's Resistance Guidebook, which contains playing cards depicting various challenges faced by Sinta, a senior high school student accused of committing violence. Participants were asked to help uncover the truth and resolve the problems faced by Sinta as an exercise in strengthening online resilience.

Strengthening resilience is expected to help address literacy challenges among students at SMP Negeri 15 Yogyakarta. It is also important for students at other educational levels, enabling them to better prepare for various challenges and ongoing developments in school learning environments. Educational innovations incorporating games as learning resources can be utilized to strengthen literacy and numeracy resilience. Indonesia's cultural diversity serves as an important resource for motivating teachers to design mathematics learning activities that enhance students' online resilience. Through this workshop, teachers were expected to develop greater awareness of the importance of adopting diverse instructional approaches to strengthen online resilience and promote more creative and effective teaching and learning.
