Enhancing Digital Resilience: SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta Conducts Online Literacy Training

Yogyakarta, November 19, 2024 – In an effort to equip students with the skills needed to navigate digital challenges, SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta, in collaboration with the Directorate of Research and Community Service of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), organized an Online Resilience Strengthening program. Held in the auditorium of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta, the program was attended by selected representatives of 10th- to 12th-grade students and featured Prof. Dr. Siti Irene Astuti Dwiningrum, M.Si., as the main speaker, together with an academic team consisting of Evi Rovikoh Indah Saputri, M.Pd., Nopita Sitompul, M.Pd., and trained university students.

The program aimed to raise students’ awareness of the importance of digital literacy in addressing various challenges in the online environment. During the main session, the speakers discussed how digital resilience can help individuals evaluate information critically, protect themselves from cyber threats, and interact responsibly in digital spaces. Students were also introduced to key digital issues, including misinformation, cyberbullying, and the importance of protecting privacy when using social media.

As part of the interactive approach, the program incorporated Edugame as a learning method. Edugame was designed to enhance digital literacy through engaging educational gameplay. Through this medium, students learned how to identify credible information, understand internet ethics, and develop healthy digital habits through interactive simulations.

Another method implemented was Play Card, in which students participated in role-playing activities based on real digital scenarios. Through this activity, students practiced responding to real-life situations, strengthened their critical thinking skills, and understood the impact of their decisions in digital environments. This approach supported students in developing adaptive skills and mental resilience when facing digital challenges.

Participants demonstrated strong enthusiasm throughout the program. Interactive discussions reflected students’ growing awareness of the importance of critical and responsible technology use. The speakers also provided practical strategies that students can apply in their daily lives to ensure safer and more responsible internet use.

Through this Online Resilience Strengthening program, students of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta are expected to become more informed, critical, and capable of navigating digital challenges responsibly. The program also reflects the commitment of academics and educators to strengthening digital literacy among students, ensuring they are better prepared to adapt to the continuously evolving digital era.
