Strengthening Online Resilience among Students of SMA Stella Duce 2 Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta, November 22, 2024 – The Directorate of Research and Community Service of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) organized an Online Resilience Strengthening program for selected representatives of 10th- to 12th-grade students of SMA Stella Duce 2 Yogyakarta. Held in the auditorium of SMA Stella Duce 2 Yogyakarta, the program aimed to enhance students’ awareness and skills in navigating digital challenges with greater responsibility and resilience.
The program featured Prof. Dr. Siti Irene Astuti Dwiningrum, M.Si., as the main speaker, accompanied by Evi Rovikoh Indah Saputri, M.Pd., and university students, who provided insights into the importance of building digital resilience in today’s rapidly evolving information era. She emphasized that online resilience is not only about withstanding the negative impacts of the internet but also about the ability to adapt, think critically, and make appropriate decisions when facing digital challenges such as misinformation, cyberbullying, and data privacy risks.
In addition to the presentation session, the program incorporated interactive learning methods to enhance students’ understanding. One of the methods used was Edugame, a digital educational game designed to improve students’ digital literacy in an engaging and enjoyable way. Through edugames, students were encouraged to identify credible information, understand internet ethics, and develop healthy digital habits.
The Play Card session was also implemented, in which students participated in role-playing activities based on real digital challenge scenarios commonly encountered online. Through this method, students learned how to respond and make appropriate decisions in various digital situations. This approach helped students strengthen their critical thinking skills and develop greater resilience in adapting to technological advancements.
Throughout the program, students demonstrated strong enthusiasm in participating in the various sessions. They gained new insights into how to use the internet and social media responsibly and how to protect themselves from digital risks.
Through this Online Resilience Strengthening program, students of SMA Stella Duce 2 Yogyakarta are expected to become more informed, critical, and responsible internet users. The program also serves as a platform for educators and academics to continue developing relevant educational approaches to address the challenges of the digital era. It is hoped that similar initiatives will continue to strengthen digital literacy and online resilience among students.
